Synopsis:
Set in Meiji-era Japan, Firefly Wedding follows Satoko Kirigaya, a terminally ill noblewoman with a heart condition who is desperate to make a good marriage to honor her family before she dies. When she is suddenly ambushed and targeted for assassination by a ruthless hitman named Shinpei Goto, Satoko makes a desperate self-preservation gamble and proposes marriage to him instead. Though her offer is initially a bluff, Shinpei—who loves as intensely and violently as he kills—unexpectedly accepts with a chilling, obsessive enthusiasm, plunging the two into a dangerous, dark romance as they navigate family resistance, forced escapes, and a twisted co-dependency.
